Workshop on research on women, alcohol and sexual health

The Project-group of Women and alcohol in Gothenburg (WAG) together with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Research invites you to participate in the Workshop about research on women, alcohol and sexual health, October 23-24.

There is extensive research showing that sexual abuse in childhood increases the risk of alcohol abuse later in life. Other research on the relationship between adult women's alcohol use, alcohol problems and sexual health is, however, far from satisfactory. There is a great need to discuss and highlight the existing research but also to discuss the area with experienced clinicians and therapists.

Invited speakers are professor Sharon Wilsnack and professor Rickard Wilsnack, from University of North Dakota, US. These prominent researchers have been involved in many research projects, in many countries, on women and alcohol, including the association between alcohol and sexual behaviors. For more information see the webpage of University of North Dakota: http://www.med.und.edu/clinical-neuroscience/sharon-wilsnack.cfm and also further on Richard Wilsnack's research.

The workshop will be held at the University of Gothenburg. We invite all researches and also experienced clinicians who also have a research interest to participate. Further lecturers and venue will presented in the next announcement.

We like to point out that this is a seminar, not a lecture. The language will be English and very active participation is requested.
